Hundreds backing 20’s Plenty campaign to tackle speeding
CONCERNED residents have spoken out about problems with speeding cars in Macclesfield and backed a campaign to make 20mph the mandatory limit.
The 20’s Plenty for Cheshire East group want this to be the limit on all residential, urban and village roads throughout the borough.
Macctastic, a sustainability group from Macclesfield, is part of the campaign and has set up an online petition calling for the change, which has attracted more than 900 signatures.
Cheshire East Council has been looking at whether to adopt this policy - which is in place in Cheshire West - and will vote on it in October.
But campaigners want to keep up the pressure and say residents across Macclesfield are supportive.
The 20’s Plenty group says this speed limit would make the roads safer, allow traffic to flow more smoothly and be good for air quality.
And here are the views of residents who support the cause and say speeding is a problem in their area.

Residents on Lark Hall Road, Lark Hall Crescent and Ecton Avenue say they are increasingly worried about the speed of vehicles driving onto nearby Buxton Road.
Siblings Grace, Ollie and Hannah Cowey, 12, 10, and nine, have all made their own speed awareness signs to
