Woman banned from town centre
A WOMAN who has been convicted of a string of shoplifting and public order offences has been banned from Macclesfield town centre.
Imogen Porter, 38, is currently in prison and upon her release must adhere to the terms of a criminal behaviour order.
It was imposed at
Crewe Magistrates Court on Thursday, July 23, and lasts indefinitely.
The order means that Porter, of no fixed address, cannot enter the town centre except for a pre-arranged appointment confirmed in writing or to attend Macclesfield Hospital.
She also must not remain on any premises where she has been asked to leave by a person responsible for the building.
Police Constable Matthew Bassirat, from Macclesfield Police, said: “This order proves how we are committed to doing all that we can to make Macclesfield a safer place for everyone.
“It means that Imogen Porter will now be unable to enter certain parts of Macclesfield town centre area.
“Applying for court orders is always the a resort, but people in Macclesfield should be allowed to go about their daily business without having to be subject to offensive behaviour from people who simply cannot behave in a reasonable manner.”
The order states Porter cannot enter an area bounded by Congleton Road, Oxford Road, Chester Road to the junction of Bishopton Drive, Pavilion Way, Victoria Road, the Silk Road and London Road including South Park.
Police and Crime Commissioner David Keane said: “I hope that by securing this criminal behaviour order it sends a clear message that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated in Macclesfield.
“It totally unacceptable for anyone to feel threatened or be subject to unruly behaviour in their local area.”
Anyone who sees Porter breaching her order is asked to call police on
101.
