- CRICKET BILL LIVESLEY

PRESTBURY’S 1st team were guests of Bowden Vale 1st team at the weekend.

Prestbury’s skipper won the toss and asked Bowden Vale to bat. Prestbury didn’t get a breakthrough until the 10th over when Ben Wallace had Sen caught by Ankur Karmokar for 13 – the score was 33.

At 71 Prestbury got another wicket – Stu Costello had Power lbw for 30. Costello claimed a second wicket with the score at 91, bowling Bottomley for 35, then Ollier hit the ball all over the ground for a 27-ball 50.

But he was gone after a fantastic boundary catch, by pushing the ball back into play by Ben Wallace, of the bowling of Rahul Metha.

The score was 145 and at the same score Mehta had Hussain caught by Chirag Marolia for 9.

However, Ryan and Robinson took the score off 30 overs to 190 for 5. Prestbury wicket takers were Costello 2 for 46, Rahul Metha 2 for 46, and Ben Wallace 1 for

35.

After the break Prestbury started their innings and a solid start by Costello and Steve Oldfield got to 27 before Costello was out for 16.

New batsman Ehsan Malik joined Oldfield and took the score to 48 before Malik was caught for 11.

And just four runs later Oldfield was out for 25, but Max Cowling Jones looked like a man on mission and Ben

Wallace took the score to 79 but Wallace fell for 8 and soon after Marloia was out for 7.

Soon skipper Brindley was out for 5 with Prestbury 104 for 6 – and when Cowling Jones was out for 30, the score was 104 for 7.

So with nine overs left a draw was the only result for Prestbury.

New batsman Rishi Metha and Jim Wallace put on a solid partnership and with three balls left Mehta was caught but had batted for 38 balls.

His brother Rahul came in and was out on the last ball of the 30 overs – Prestbury were 121 for 9 so achieving a draw. Not out batsman was Jim Wallace on 12.

A great effort by all, with Prestbury man of the match Max Cowling Jones.

The seconds were home to Bowden Vale seconds. Prestbury bated first and were all out for 92 off 25 overs – Andy Scott 30, Will Worswick 28. Prestbury made Bowden Vale work hard for the runs but

Bowden reached the target in the 31st over but lost six wickets.

Kieran Robinson 3 for 26, Alex Insley 2 for 16.

Prestbury thirds played Ashley and scored 167 all out – Gabor Simon 43, Will Worswick 27. When rain stopped play Ashley were 80 for 6 with wickets for Ben Wallace, Will Worswick and Alex Insley. Prestbury were boosted by a number of good performances from u15s. Prestbury first are away to Glazebury on Saturday.
