Mum duo fulfil their burning ambition
TWO mums have opened a fragrance shop in Macclesfield after what was once a hobby has become an international business.
Ella Wright and Amy Taylor unveiled their Cheshire Melts store at Duke Court, Macclesfield town centre, on Sunday, August 30.
The company was set up by Ella, 25, who had originally began mixing scents at her home on Coronation Street in 2017 while pregnant with her son Arthur.
Such was her success she left her job at Macclesfield Hospital to concentrate on this full-time and she credits the business as helping with her postnatal depression.
Among her customers was Amy and she joined the company as co-owner and director last year.
She said: “I was a customer, having the same issues with mental health and began working for Ella, then joined the company last year as co-owner and director.
“Together we rebranded, made a significant amount of changes and since the company has gone from strength to strength.
“We usually work seven days a week from early mornings till sometimes 4am building the business to make it a success. Now we’ve got customers all over the UK and now ship into Europe.
“We are both now fulfilling our dreams within the industry, we both have young children and are doing it for them.”
Products that Cheshire Melts sells include fragrances, burners, bath bombs, shower whips and soap sponges.
At the official opening there were goodie bags given away and commemorative cup cakes served.
Ella turned her hobby into a business when friends and family gave her products the seal of approval.
The Cheshire Melts workshop is in Adelphi Mill, the company’s third different base as it grows to keep up with demand.
Ella said: “Having a newborn baby it was something I could do for myself.
“I battled with postnatal depression and anxiety after returning to my job, leaving the house and socialising became very difficult. Cheshire melts became my release.
“The business has taught me a lot, one thing is to follow your wildest dream. It has given me so much confidence and I absolutely adore going to work.”
Cheshire Melts also raises money for charity with beneficiaries including Poynton-based Ollie’s Army and ECHO.
