PRESTBURY first were away again this week at Glazebury first.

Glazebury skipper won the toss and decided to bat – Prestbury had early success when opening bowler Junaid Mir had Warhurst caught by wicketkeeper Ben Wallace for 2 and then Will Worswick making his first debut got the wicket of Mewmen, bowling him for 9.

With the score at 37 when Worswick had Brunt lbw for 12, Glazebury recovered and took the score to 85, but Worswick struck again by a good catch taken by Kirkland.

Worswick was in action again, taking a catch from the bowling of Ridley Partridge – 103 for 5. Glazebury had found it difficult to score due to tight Prestbury bowling – Mir bowled 12 overs, 7 maidens and claimed 1 wicket for 6 runs – so trying to push the score Glazebury were losing wickets.

Partridge got a second wicket, Sequila caught by Stu Costello and at 112 another wicket fell, Kirkland having Green superbly caught by Adam Phillips for 0.

The same combination got rid of Stainer for 27, with the score at 116. Kirkland bowled Nicholson for 1 and Costello ran Jarvis out for 1, as Glazebury were all out in the last of their 40 overs for 119.

Prestbury wickettakers were Worswick 3 for 48, Partridge 2 for 23, Kirkland 3 for 11 and Mir 1 for 6. After the break Phillips and Steve Oldfield opened the innings and Phillips was out for 2 but Oldfield and Wallace took the score to 32.

When Wallace was out for 2 the score moved on to 45 but Oldfield was out bowled for 14. After a rain shower Prestbury lost 7 overs so needed 74 off 16 overs – and started to up the rate.

At 51 Ehsan Akram was out and this brought Mir to join Costello and they took the score to 81 when Costello was out for 32.

A wicket fell at 91 when Mir was caught for 20 but skipper George Brindley and Worswick finished the game with some glorious shots and reached the target in the 24th over, with Brindley 22 not out and Worswick 9 not out. A superb team display. Prestbury man of the match went to Will Worswick.
