Reddish Vale Golf Club were excellent host for some of Cheshire’s top girls as they competed in a Stableford competition for the Stella Watson Trophy which has been played for since the trophy was presented to the county many years ago.

The day was blessed by excellent weather and a pristine and very challenging Mackenzie course along the River Tame.

Scoring was not easy on some slick greens but as always some of the players master the conditions and post some excellent scores.

The bulk of these came in the later stages of the competition led by a superb haul of 44 points by Abigail McCoy of Bramall Park Golf Club off her 31 handicap.

It left her six points clear of Bailey Colman (Crewe Golf Club) who won a cpo from her clubmate Morgan Bollam.

The prize list was completed by Georgia Taylor (High Legh Park) with 35 points.

Abigail, who is 15 and attends St James Catholic High School, said: “I have been playing golf for about five years and have mainly been coached by Liam Burgess and Graham Neville. Grace Roberts has also encouraged me a lot and I would like to thank everyone involved in organising the competition and also my playing partners.”

Cheshire Junior Girls Captain Jessica Turner (Delamere Forest GC) opened the socially distanced presentation outside the club with the splendid views of the course and the prizes were presented by Cheshire County Captain Frances Gell (Bramhall GC).

Deserving thanks were given to Reddish Vale for their excellent and friendly hosting of the competition and for providing such a great course enjoyed by all players.
