People to have say on policing
RESIDENTS are being invited to have their say on policing priorities and how they would feel about paying more for the force during a public consultation.
Cheshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner David Keane launched the online consultation on January 5 and it runs until midnight on January 24.
As well as being asked what priorities should be for Macclesfield,
Cheshire, and the rest of the county, residents can also give their views on a £15 per year increase to the policing precept element of council tax.
To do this there is an online survey and virtual engagement sessions where people can talk directly to the commissioner.
Mr Keane said: “The pandemic has shown us just how important policing and other key public services are when it comes to protecting our communities.
“As your voice in policing, I want to hear your views on this proposal and I want to know what your policing priorities are for the coming year.” The public engagement events take place on
Saturday, January 16, from 1pm to 2.30pm and Tuesday, January 19, from 6.30pm to 8pm.
To attend email your name and address, the date of the session you’d like to attend and your question to chief constable to pcc@cheshire.pnn. police.uk.
Registration for each session closes 24 hours before it takes place. The link to join will be emailed shortly before.
Cheshire Police is also looking to recruit a new Chief Constable to replace the outgoing Darren Martland, who leaves in the spring.
The deadline for applications is 5pm on Sunday, January 31.
