Organisers are ‘100 per cent committed’ to Rewind return
ORGANISERS of the Rewind Festival are keeping their fingers crossed the event will happen – and say they are ‘100 per cent committed’ to it going ahead.
The three-day retro music extravaganza is scheduled to take place at Capesthorne Hall, Macclesfield, between August 6 and 8.
Tickets are on sale and acts on the bill include Wet Wet Wet, Billy Ocean, Bananarama and Jimmy Somerville.
Other Rewind Festivals take place in Scotland and Oxfordshire.
But the festival was cancelled last year at the hands of Covid and there is uncertainty about the 2021 instalment despite the roadmap out of lockdown permitting such events after June 21, as things stand.
In response organisers have issued a statement explaining where they are currently at and what it is hoped will happen between now and the summer.
It said: “We remain 100 per cent committed to doing everything we can to bring you all three Rewind Festivals and we believe our dates, size and set up times work perfectly given they are a month after lockdown is lifted and we have enough time to plan anything that the test events throw up. However, please do rest assured that should we not be able to stage these events, then you will obviously be able to get a full refund or roll your tickets over to 2022.
“But we remain confident that, given that all our audience, artists and most of the crew will be double vaccinated by July 23, we will be able to celebrate.”
The Government is carrying out a series of test events in the coming weeks and months to see how public events can work in a safe environment.
The festival’s health and safety team is doing likewise before liaising with local councils to implement any recommendations.
It is believed these could include vaccine or testing certification, increased sanitising, open tents to increase air flow and queue management measures.
