Village’s family home is sparkling historical gem

-

HAVING moved home to Gawsworth at the beginning of our recent lockdown I had no opportunity to explore my neighbourhood until recently.

The village has an amazingly successful local shop, run entirely by volunteers. If they don’t have it…they can get it.

Pop in and buy a sandwich they are fantastic.

I wandered down there earlier this week and was totally blown away by the beauty and magnificence of Gawsworth Hall. It is truly stunning.

Many of you will have attended concerts there and have fond memories of picnics on the lawn with maybe the odd bottle of bubbly?

What really impressed me was how little The Hall has changed over its illustrious 500-year history.

This is not Chatsworth or Tatton or any of the other great halls that have a corporate persona behind exterior.

Gawsworth is as near to the 16th Century as you are ever likely to get.

Tended with loving care by the Richards family The Hall is an amazing find for anyone seeking a their historic glimpse of Tudor times.

It’s open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays 26th June to 1st August (Parties and small groups welcome at other times by request.)

This is a sensational location for wedding parties with a beautiful lake and magnificent church alongside The Hall.

Please go and see for yourselves.

It’s highly likely one of the family will greet you, which is an experience not to be missed.

If you have the chance to attend one of their Summer Shows take your picnic basket, a good bottle of wine (or two) and give my love to Freddie Mercury.

I promise you an evening you will never forget.
