WITH the first team’s game against Sandbach postponed attention turned this week to our younger teams.

MACCLESFIELD Town Ladies Under 9s: First up, our girls took on a Chester Nomads team who opened the scoring against the run of play.

A smart finish with the outside of the boot from captain, Phoebe Denham and another from the Girl of the Game Niamh Vanaudenaerde meant that we switched ends with a deserved lead.

In the second half Annie Bartlett came on up front and had an instant impact with a quick goal as did Naomi Groarke who added a worldy which nestled in the top corner.

In the second fixture Macc maintained their winning streak with yet another comeback victory against Crewe.

Despite trailing at half time, a brace for Girl of the Game, Phoebe Denham with a further goal for the busy Niamh Vanaudenaerde gave our girls the spoils from a thrilling game which was only made safe with a scrambled back post finish by defender Naomi Groarke! Macc attacked and defended as a team with good performances all round.

MACCLESFIELD Town Ladies Under 10s: Another set of enjoyable matches in the sun for the Under 10’s.

Facing Egerton Tigers the whole team worked tremendously to ensure that Egerton had to battle for whole match.

Macclesfield u10’s were on great form with goals from Elsie Wall (4), Autumn Greensmith and an awesome penalty from Ffion Barlow.

Second Match against Waverton Bee’s showed excellent teamwork and communication and overall sense of sportsmanship with more goals for Elsie Wall (4) and Madison Barlow.

Congratulations to all girls involved today and well done to Lily Storey and Isabella Haddon on first time appearances.

MACCLESFIELD Town Ladies Under 12s 1 Cheshire Blades Tigresses 3: In a very close and competitive game of football that could’ve gone either way Macc went a goal down early on after a simple mistake at the back, and went into the break 2-0 down after allowing a shot from the edge of the box.

A good start to the second half saw Anna Davies slot home after some good footwork in the box to make it 1-2.

A lucky sliced effort from the opposition looped over the Macc keeper to make it 1-3, effectively killing the game off.

Anna Davies should’ve had a second when the keeper got a hand on her shot but couldn’t stop it crossing the line, but was missed by the ref.

Girl of the game went to Charlotte Harrop for stopping so many attacks down Macc’s left channel.
