Prestbury lose at Styal

PRESTBURY captain George Brindley won the toss and decided to bat when the side travelled to Styal at the weekend.

Ben Wallace and Bryn Thompson opened the innings and put a solid footing to the innings, taking the score to 31 off 9 overs before Wallace was out LBW for 14.

New batsman Stu Costelllo never got going and was caught for 1, 42 for 2.

Max Cowling Jones was bowled for 1 ,49 for 3, Jim Wallace joined Thompson and they took the score on to 81.

Thompson reached his 50 but unfortunat­ely Wallace was caught for 9, bringing skipper Brindley to the crease.

However, he was soon out for 0, 84 for 5 and it was soon 89 for 6 with Will Worswick, stumped for 4.

Prestbury had let a good base slip with some poor shot selection, Cirag Moralia was out for 1, Alex Calder joined

Thompson and took the score on to 110 then Calder was bowled for 13.

His brother Finn came in but with the score still at 110 Thompson was caught for 64 – two runs more than his age!

Last batsman Ridley Partridge came in and at 115 Finn Calder was out for 4.

After a tea break, Styal had 40 overs to get 116, and made a solid start the openers putting on 43 but Moralia had Johnson caught by Finn Calder, Partridge then at 54 had Abeel LBW for 10, and Alex Calder got a wicket with the score at 75.

Calder took another wicket with the score at 94, so Styal only needed 22 but lost another wicket at 100, when Singleton was caught and bowled by Moralia for 45.

A bit more pressure was put on the Styal batsman when B Wallace bowled Payer for 6 109 for 6 soon was 113 for 7 when A Calder got Morton LBW for 5 but the winning hit came in 37th over so a win for Styal by 3 wickets.

The seconds hosted Offerton seconds, Prestbury batted first and made 122 for 7 off 40 overs, another 50 not out for Jake Ogden and 16 for Jack Cookson, Offerton chased down the total in the 32nd over for the lose of 7 wickets, Prestbury bowling Adel 1 for 30, lish 1 for 13, Santi 2 for 12 and Nick Taylor 3 for 44.
