Kerridge hit back with win

- CRICKET ADAM BANKS

Bowdon Vale 195 a.o Vs Kerridge 213/8 AFTER suffering a heavy defeat last weekend Kerridge bounced back with a thrilling away win to Bowdon Vale.

Losing the toss (again!) Kerridge were put into bat on a green wicket and got off to a steady start with Danny Brown (27) showing his usual finesse with the willow before some poor shot making decisions from the top order saw Kerridge sitting at a nervy 63/5.

Josh Capper (37) and Skipper Jimmy Knight (75) in a much needed 119 run partnership saw the innings to a much more respectable 182/6. Some late runs from the tail saw Kerridge post 213/8 off their 40 overs.

With initial thoughts of 150 being enough a determined innings of 88 from opposition captain Alex Power with assistance from Jack Ryan (26) and Louie Power (27) saw the score breeze past 150 and approaching 200 with the score 181/7 with 5 overs remaining . This set up a nail biting finale with all batsmen throwing caution to the wind in search of the winning runs.

Ste Regan (5/68) and Brown (3/28) managed to handle the pressure whilst keeping down the runs to singles and also taking wickets frequently. With 1 over and 1 wicket in hand Bowdon required 20 runs to win but could only manage a single off Brown who collected the final wicket on the final ball of the game. Win / lose cricket at its best entertaining a reasonable Trafford crowd too.

Kerridge host Offerton at Clarke Lane this coming saturday from 1pm hoping the form they have had on their travel’s continues.
