Firsts short while thirds stay on top

PRESTBURY first hosted Cheadle Hulme Ladybridge and skipper Steve Oldfield won the toss and put the visitors in to bat.

The Cheadle openers got off to a good start, putting on 29 runs off seven overs before

Alex Insley got the breakthrou­gh, bowling Howard for 8.

At 31, Sakander was run out by Max Cowling Jones.

Cheadle rebuilt the innings but at 97 off 28 overs Bishop was caught by Andy Scott off the bowling of Rahul Metha and 14 runs later Metha struck again, bowling Clarke.

Runs were hard to come by and another two wickets fell to Metha in between Will Worswick bowling Moore. At 137 Rishi Metha got the wicket of Bicknell LBW for 11.

Prestbury were making good use of the conditions and Rahul Metha got his 4th wicket with George Brindley taking the catch, and 139 for 8 soon was 139 for 9 with Raul Metha completing his maiden first eleven five wicket haul.

The cheadle innings closed with the score at 155 off 40 overs, Prestbury wicket takers Taylor 1 for 16, Worswick 1 for 28 , Insley 10 overs 1 for 14, Rishi Metha 1 for 15 and Rahul Metha 5 for 58 off 10 overs.

Prestbury didn’t have a great start as Wallace and Scott fell with the score on 5 and with the score at 20 Oldfield was out for 9.

At 22 Prestbury lost Jake Ogden for 6 and with two new batsmen at the crease,

Worswick and

Brindley, they got the score to 54.

Brindley was out and this brought Rishi Metha to the wicket and he and Worswick got the score to 99 but Metha was caught for 15.

At 106, Prestbury lost Cowling Jones. While wickets were falling at the other end Worswick was playing a superb innings, reaching his 50, but Insley fell for 7.

At 128 for 8, Worswick was bowled for 71 and it was left to the last pair to try to get to the target of 156 but Taylor was out for 8 and Prestbury fell 21 runs short at 134ao in the 38th over.

The seconds travelled to Holmes Chapel. Prestbury skipper Gabor Simon won the toss and put Holmes Chapel into bat and off 39 overs they made 159 all out.

Prestbury wicket takers Riley 1 for 16, Nelson 1 for 19 Adal 4 for 29 and Sumon 4 for 15.

However, Prestbury only got to 100 all out with contributi­ons from Gabor 29 and

Adal 35.

On Sunday,

Prestbury thirds went to play Bredbury St Marks, who won the toss and batted making 119 all out in 34 overs.

Prestbury wicket takers Sumon 2 for 22 JP 4 for 48 and Abbi Lamidey 3 for 16.

Prestbury set about reaching the target but lost early wickets. However, Jake Ogden, 28 not out, supported by skipper Worswick, 31, and Nick Ogden, 27, saw Prestbury home to 120 for 5 in the 33rd over, still top of the division.
