School A-ces full of smiles Results day brings delight to students
THERE were plenty of smiles as students across Macclesfield received their teacher-assessed A-Level results on Tuesday morning.
For the second year in a row, examinations were suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. Grades were instead assessed by teachers and decided via a five-stage process.
Emmanuel Botwe, headteacher of Tytherington School, said: “On behalf of the whole Tytherington community, I would like to congratulate the Sixth Form class of 2021 for their wonderful achievements.
“This year group have had to endure significant disruption to their Sixth Form experience but they have overcome the challenge through sheer grit and determination.”
A total of 22 Tytherington School students achieved three or more A*/A/Distinction* grades. They were Matilda Bird, Connor Laffan, Sami
Hatna, Toby Morton-Collings, Lily Beech, Lewis Peal, Harry Gascoigne, Ailsa Addie, Anashka Calero, Fin Proffitt, Jim Sidaway, Henry Bridgett, Kai Buxton, Milly Cantrell, Ben Yardley, Sophie Pounder, Poppy Dutton, Emily Fairfoot, Frankie Gittins, Jason Rowson, Ruby Hebb and Ben Jackson.
A number of the school’s students achieved two A*/A/ Distinction* grades: Fiona Bridge, Louis Bostock, Shelby Evans, Emily Griffen, Oliver Harris, Ben Harrison, Alex Hey, Finley Lonyon, Finlay MelliarSmith, Erin McPherson, Emily Mansfield, Ben Milne, Cameron Mitchard, Alison Stephen, and Natasha Williams.
At King’s School, A-Level students recorded 69 per cent of all grades at A* or A with 90 per cent at A* to B - as 62 A-Level students achieved at least three straight A grades.
The top performers at King’s included: Felicity Bailey, Lily Evans, Bethany Henshaw, Charlotte
Smith, Florence Thompson, Sarah Turner, Charlotte Warren, Elin Rands, Molly Robertson, Zac Patterson, Josh Rajendran, Wadoud Charbak, James Smith, Alistair Griffin, Matt Suarez, and Sam Worthington.
King’s School headmaster Jason Slack said: “These Year 13 pupils deserve every congratulation on their achievements. Their Sixth Form studies have been hugely disrupted and so very different from any other year.
“They’ve adapted incredibly well, worked hard to complete assessments and assignments and their A-Level results are excellent.”
