Author finds a novel way to raise NHS cash
ACHARTERED surveyor turned author will hold a second book giveaway to raise money for the NHS.
Robert Jordan, 77, from Prestbury, has released The Family Lie as his latest short novel.
It continues his Detective Chief Inspector Jon Kim series as he investigates the death of an elderly woman.
Now he will give copies of it away to people who have registered on his mailing list in return for a donation to NHS Charities Together.
Earlier this year Robert did the same thing with his previous book Match Day Murder, which was available from either the Village Pharmacy, in Prestbury, or the Stationary Shop, on Chapel Lane, Wilmslow.
He gave away 80 copies and raised around £700.
Robert, who has been married for 53 years and has a son, a daughter and five grandchildren, said: “I am hoping that The Family Lie will see a similar rate of donations.
“Many people like to read the book before donating.
“Those who have already donated will get the book with no obligation to make a further donation.”
Previously Robert worked as a chartered surveyor and was the owner of Jordan Residential Lettings.
But he retired in 2009 and began writing, having five novels published before these latest two charity books.
The first of these was sketched out when he passed the time during a delayed train journey from London to Macclesfield.
