FEARS have been raised for local bus services after the council missed out on government funding and says routes are already under pressure (see page 15). Here’s what you think about it.:

Michelle Parker Smith: I would like to see where the grants were given, mostly down south I bet. Jackie Brambles: It’s a bit like the trains. We have two car trains leaving Manchester at busy times compared to London that have sixteen carriage trains leaving Victoria. Always money for the south but nothing for the north. Melanie Butson: That grant was an option if you model the public transport on London transport. It’s not a one size fits all as Macclesfield is a town with rural links. I do think the bus service in Macc needs to be vastly improved and a cheaper service. At the moment it’s cheaper to drive and park or get a taxi, which defeats the purpose of public transport.

Daniel Jackson: Why is it that Macclesfield always gets ignored by government? This country is broken in so many ways.

Terry Knowles: Funding wouldn’t have made much difference anyway it would’ve been the same old pathetic service with zero improvement.

MEANWHILE, you also had plenty to say about the plans to turn St John’s Church, in Bollington, into apartments:

Tracy Ann: Far too many new houses going up, ruining our beautiful landscape & countryside..

Vera Tankard: Nice! The only sensible thing to do with a church. It’s the sign of decrease of the faith in Europe.

Chloe Ashby: So much better to do something with the building than to lose it altogether.
