Major loss has made Carole a big winner
ASUPER slimmer who has lost more than five stone in weight has been named winner of a ‘Biggest Loser’ award.
Carole Mooney, 63, from the Weston Estate, Macclesfield, is a member of the Slimming World group at nearby Calvary Church.
She has been attending such sessions ‘off and on’ for many years but after finding a new found determination joined again in 2020.
At the time Carole, who was diagnosed with type two diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol when she was younger, weighed 17st 7lbs and before that she was 19st 7lb.
But she now tips the scales at 14st 4lb and was given the group’s Biggest Loser award for 2022.
Carole said: “I have always had weight problems which crept up on me after having my two children.
“I loved to party and enjoyed socialising with my friends and family.
“As my grandchildren came along they expected me to be fit enough to do things with them.
“I decided to get myself fit and healthy as I was determined to come off my medication.”
In addition to joining Slimming World, Carole became a member of a gym.
During lockdown she and her husband began going for walks and they now go on walking holidays together.
Carole has now come off some of her medication and, whereas at one time her dress size was 26/28, it is now 16.
She said: “It was hard to start exercising when I was carrying a lot of weight.
“I felt conscious about how I looked too.
“I lost my weight gradually, I feel really proud of myself and my family are friends are so proud of me also.
“My life has changed so much, I feel healthy and happy in my new life.”
Julie Bowden, who runs Slimming World groups at Calvary Church on Mondays at 3.30pm, 5.30pm and 7.30pm as well as another at Townley Hall on Friday, presented Carole with her award.
She said: “I am very proud of how Carole has turned her life around and how supportive she is of everyone who comes to group.”
“My life has changed so much, I feel healthy and happy.”
