Electric charging points being planned for 2025
RESIDENTS without off-street parking will have greater access to electric vehicle charging points from next year, following a funding boost of more than £2.17m.
Cheshire East Council has been awarded money from the government’s Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) Fund. The authority expects to start installing new charging points in Macclesfield and the rest of the borough in 2025.
Locations will include council owned car parks.
Private companies have also become part of the drive to encourage drivers to use electric vehicles in Macclesfield. Tesco has installed charging points at its Hibel road store and

David Harper, from the BBC, officially opened John Percyvale Court and Kings Scholars Court, both retirement housing bp pulse unveiled a charging hub on the Silk Road last year.
Tom Moody, director of infrastructure and highways at the Council, said: “Our EV charging infrastructure strategy, adopted in July last year, recognises that the lack of off-street parking at many properties in means the availability of home charging points is a potential barrier to some people switching to an electric vehicle. We’re committed to doing whatever we can to support more people to go electric.
“Our strategy identifies the need for 1,300 public charge points across the borough by 2030. This grant from the LEVI Fund will allow us to greatly improve the provision.” schemes on Coare Street.
As well as cutting the ribbon he talked to guests - including new homeowners - and gave an insight into his television career.

David said: “It was so wonderful to meet with all the homeowners and their guests and an absolute joy to be a part of the celebrations here in Macclesfield.”
