Fundraiser to replace club’s faulty floodlights

-

Marlow Hockey Club are calling on club members to help raise the money needed to replace faulty floodlights at Pound Lane.

The club are keen to play matches under lights once again and have said that all donations – no matter the size – will be gratefully received and go a long way towards achieving their £45,000 goal.

The club needs to install LED lights at a total of £45,000 and without working floodlights it cannot stage evening matches or play during the later parts of the day during winter months.

“With regular bulb failures and poor light we are risking the health and safety of our members and impacting on their experience,” a club statement said.

“Our annual costs for maintenance, repairs and electricity have reached a level we can no longer afford. Therefore, all donations are VERY gratefully received.

The cost of replacing the lights comes at a time when the club’s finances are already being stretched by the impact of COVID-19, with revenues for events, hockey camps and summer league fixtures having gone by the wayside.

Socially distant pitch bookings and training sessions have also been taking place at the club for the past month or so. So far these have been free of charge to members, however, it is hoped members could start showing their thanks with a donation to the fund

Donations can be made to the club’s JustGiving page at https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/marlowhockeyclubfloodlights.
