Clubs in need of clarity

-

Slough Town has welcomed last week’s announcement from the National League that grant funding has been secured to enable clubs to start their seasons, however, it remains frustrated that details of the government grant haven’t been clarified.

Last week the National League announced that a £10m grant has been secured for clubs across its three divisions over the first three months of the season, however, the Rebels feel greater transparency is needed.

All clubs have submitted details of their lost match-day revenue, such as ticket sales and takings from food and bar outlets, however, the club doesn’t yet know if the money they’ll receive from the fund will cover those losses.

The club remains committed to engaging with its supporters during this period of behind-closed doors matches, and in partnership with FC Video will livestream home National League South matches for £9.50 per match. Supporters are also being encouraged to contribute in other ways, such as buying ‘virtual’ match tickets, food and drink through the virtual club shop.

Fans can still watch live football at Arbour Park for the time being, with the u23s team playing Suburban League matches there on Saturday afternoons and Slough Town Ladies playing on Sunday afternoons.

A statement released by the club on Monday said: “This is a very bittersweet moment in the history of our club.

“Whilst we are extremely grateful for the grant funding and the possibility of getting the season underway, we are committed in wanting our supporters to be able to come back to Arbour Park.”
