Arts centre’s fundraising quiz offers familiar faces and a few surprises

-

MAIDENHEAD:Quizzers will be able to test their knowledge at a fundraising event for

Norden Farm later this month.

The arts venue is holding a virtual quiz hosted by Jeff Lloyd to raise money for it’s Noah’s Ark appeal.

Norden Farm, based in Altwood Road, launched the appeal to raise

£50,000 to keep its programmes ‘afloat’ for local audiences last month.

Within three days of the first lockdown in March, Norden Farm had started to live stream events on the internet, and also began offering online versions of many of its activities.

The centre re-opened in September with reduced capacity in accordance with government guidelines, but from Thursday had to move its programme online once again.

The quiz includes rounds to suit quizzers of all ages and includes themes such as sink or swim.

There may be a few familiar faces introducing the rounds, including well-known comedian Russell Brand.

Norden Farm has also thanked its supporters, including the Shanly Foundation, The Rotary Club of Maidenhead, Sean Egan, Tony and Mary Stock, Norden Farm's Maidenhead Boundary Walk fundraisers, Goyals of Maidenhead and Norden

Farm 2 by 2 Ticket Donors. The Rotary Club of Maidenhead recently pledged £1,000 to the appeal.

Rotary club president Mary Spinks said: “The centre is a great community asset which is enjoyed by many people and it must survive during these awful times.”

Jane Corry, chief executive of Norden Farm added: “Given the ongoing, devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Norden Farm Centre for the Arts and our local community, there has never been a time when we have needed to join forces and support each other.

“It is thanks to the commitment of the Rotary Club and our other supporters that we hope to raise £50,000 towards our programme of live and online arts entertainment and activities for all ages. The Norden's Ark Appeal will help us continue making the arts accessible to those in self-isolation, shielding, or who don't feel able to visit indoor public venues.”

Norden’s Ark Quiz will take place on Wednesday, November 18 at 7pm.Tickets are £5 per person or £30 for a team of six.
