Danilo’s joy muted by last gasp equaliser

Danilo Orsi-Dadomo scored his second goal of the season in some style on Saturday, but his postmatch celebrations were muted by Bromley’s late fightback to snatch a 2-2 draw.

Orsi-Dadomo clinically dispatched Josh Coley’s low cross to edge United in front at York Road and the hosts looked to be well on course for an impressive three points when Shaun Donnellan hammered them further ahead early in the second half. Taye Ashby-Hammond from well outside the area before Chris Bush undid the Magpies desdefensive efforts by pinging one into the top corner in the 95th minute.

“I got a call from the gaffer last night saying, ‘you’re starting tomorrow’. I just anted to get on the scoresheet, put in a good performance for the team and hopefully take away three points,” he said.

“I thought we were going to do that until the last minute of the game but, credit to them, he’s (Chris Bush) hit an absolute worldie and it’s gone in. I think it shows how far we’ve come from the first three games that we’re disappointed to concede so late today.”

Maidenhead’s goals were both brilliantly taken but different in their execution.

Danilo added: “He’s been saying for a while now that he’s going to score from outside the box and today was the day. But credit to their two strikes as well.

“They were unbelievable goals and neither side was able to go on and get the three points.

“We broke on them a few times in the second half and might have got something if the final pass had been a bit better. But listen, we’ve worked our socks off again today and, apart from the last minute, we’re happy with the performance. To go seven games unbeaten is great, especially for a club like ours.”
