Kelly encourages young Magpies to sign up to Juniors
Maidenhead United forward Josh Kelly is encouraging young players to join the club’s Juniors section.
In a post on the Maidenhead United Juniors social media page this week, the 21-year-old Northern Ireland u21s international recorded a message for parents of year 4 children encouraging them to get their kids involved in a potential new u9s team.
Youth and grassroots football have been paused in recent weeks due to the second national lockdown, but the Government con
firmed this week that matches and training could return from next weekend (December 5-6).
Maidenhead United Juniors Club Secretary Neil Maskell said: “We are actively looking for a few players to make up a squad of Under 9 players. We are looking for boys and girls in Year 4 this school year. Initially we will offer Free training sessions as a taster with a view to entering one of our local weekend morning leagues”.
Maskell continued: “The club’s ethos is to provide recreational football for local youngsters in a safe and secure environment, particularly in these times.
“The club has vigorous policies in place to ensure that all our 440 plus members are protected against the risk of COVID-19 whilst playing football.
“For parents looking to find a club for their youngster to play, we have a waiting list for all age groups but we’re particularly keen to recruit u9s players for the second half of this season.”
