Happy faces as Juniors get back to it

-

There were plenty of smiling happy children, parents and coaches as Maidenhead United Juniors got back to action after the four-week lockdown.

Tightened coronavirus restrictions throughout November and early December meant that all grassroots and youth sport was halted but most of the sides got back to action last weekend.

The u7s Colts enjoyed a great start and had a superb performance from their new goalkeeper Thomas. He made some outstanding saves and was expertly marshalled by Guy, Henry and Oliver in defence. Jack, Shay and Grace scored some brilliant goals at the other end of the field.

The u7s Magpies were full of energy as they got back to it against Old Windsor Tigers. They got off to a flying start with a goal from Luke, who then doubled his tally. The Tigers pulled one back but Luke had the final say, scoring a third in the final quarter.

The u8s Colts faced Delaford and were caught cold by two quick-fire goals. Rather than freeze the Colts his back with two goals of their own from Jack and Yoan. Rory finished off a fourth after a great one-two with Seb and Rory then bagged a fifth. There was a thunderbolt finish from Fin for the sixth and a smart free-kick from Yoan and a driving finish from Seb – who was player of the match – brought up goals seven and eight.

Happy Coach Georgina said the u8s Blacks were ‘very excited to be back in action. It was a great match and so nice to see the boys back to doing what they love.’
