Success right across the board

-

Maidenhead’s head coach David Mobbs-Smith believes the club has grown sufficiently over the past few years to climb the ladder of success ‘right across the board’.

When league matches resume, Maids’ first team will be pitting their wits against sides from the London and South East Premier Division after being switched out of the South West leagues for the very first time.

Despite this Mobbs-Smith is confident the side can hit the ground running playing at new grounds and against new opposition, and he hopes that success will be achieved right across the board, from the first team and women’s team through to the colts and juniors. In chairman Steve Bough and new director of rugby Myke Parrott, he believes the right people are in place to drive the club forward.

“We have a dynamic chairman in Stephen Bough and a new DoR in Myke Parrott, who is an absolute action man,” he said. “The club is looking to bump on now and do some stuff and climb that ladder of success right across the board. In the men’s game, the women’s game, the junior game.

“Those two who I’ve just mentioned are the driving force, so hopefully, between us we can all grasp this opportunity when it comes.

“I’m sure it will happen because the ambition is there, and even through this period of uncertainty, the belief we have has been one of those driving forces.

“We have youth stuff, Zoom sessions on Zoom on a Sunday that have between 100-250 people in attendance. That’s all part of how you grow in the rugby environment. There’s so much more to the club than how the first team is doing.”
