Magpies score grant funding for ‘Fan Zone’

-

Maidenhead United have scored some funding from the Premier League for a new fan engagement initiative that will include a popup Fan Zone at Magpies home matches.

The club and its community trust has received a grant of £19,400 from the Premier League Fans Fund for its ‘150 Project’, enabling the club to create a new fan zone to be utilised at home matches and in community settings. The fan zone will provide a focal point for both new and existing supporters to meet each other and learn more about the club’s community projects and fan initiatives.

The Maidenhead United 150 Project, linked to the club’s 150th anniversary celebration, has already seen the club and community trust host a series of virtual workshops to engage with supporters. These workshops were created with the objective of growing the Magpies fan base and bringing underrepresented groups, such as young people and their families, women and girls, into the fold.

Building on this the club will establish a 150 Club Forum and a volunteer programme to ensure that supporters continue to shape the clubs activities and engagement with fans on match and non-match days.

Jon Adams, Chief Executive of Maidenhead United Football Club said: “We’re thrilled to have been awarded this grant from the Premier League Fans Fund.

“We know from our experience this season that football is simply not the same without our supporters in the ground.

“We can’t wait to welcome them back to games when it is safe to do so.”

“This initiative is helping us to develop new ways of engaging supporters during these unusual times and will help us reach more people locally.
