Visit virtual town to country roadshow

-

One of the plus sides of the pandemic has been an increase in homeworking technology and attitudes, giving workers more flexibility in where they want to live.

Understandably many city-dwellers want to give up the hustle and bustle of city living and escape to the space and peace of the countryside.

Estate agent Hamptons’ country offices registered a record number of applicants from London in 2020 looking to buy in their area – 24 per cent more than in 2019. And so far this year 34 per cent of Hamptons’ applicants registering to buy in the country came from London – the highest on record.

Lesley Cairns, managing director at Hamptons, comments: “Without a doubt one of the key trends since the start of the pandemic has been the rise in the number of households looking for more space, and a significant part of that trend has been the rise of the number of households leaving cities.

“Despite various lockdowns and transactions freezing during the first lockdown the number of homes bought by Londoners outside the capital has hit the highest number in four years.”

To give clients a better understanding on making the move, Hamptons will be hosting a virtual Town to County Roadshow on April 27 2021.

The event will include a range of seminars offering advice suited to London leavers. Guest speakers will also share their expertise, such as Melanie Sanderson, managing editor of The Good School’s Guide, who will highlight everything a parent needs to know about finding the right school for their child.

Guest host, Giles Kline, the executive editor of Country Life will contribute to a webinar about home renovations.

Lesley Cairns says the roadshow will help answer those all-important questions when considering a move to the countr yside:

“With branches both in London and key countryside locations across the south of the UK Hamptons has always been well placed to help clients with the move out of the capital. This coupled with our expertise has led us to host an annual Move to the Country Roadshow: an event we have run for the past 15 years. This year in line with government guidelines, the event will be virtual.

“At Hamptons we understand that the move from London to the country is a big decision and we are glad we have the opportunity to make that easier.”
