Emmett named Windsor captain for new season
Windsor RFC: Player is ‘honoured’ to take armband for the 2021/22 campaign
Emmett has revealed his immense pride in taking the armband at Home Park for the coming season having been made Windsor rugby club’s first team captain this week.
The number 8 will succeed Aaron McGroarty as skipper in the Royals’ 2021/22 campaign and will have the support of long-serving players Allen Crawshaw and Ben Grant-Adamson as vice-captains to guide the club through the year.
Combined with his leadership on the pitch and passion for the club off the pitch, the 32-year-old believes he is the right man for the job.
“It’s a massive honour to be named as first team captain and I’m really excited for the challenge,” said Emmett.
“I feel like I have an extra responsibility to play well every week and lead by example so I’m looking forward to see how I take on that.
“I’ll be the main focus when there are decisions to be made on the pitch, but the great thing about the club is that we’ve got so many experienced players that can chip in as and when I need them to.
“I’m not going to talk for the sake of it. I’ll do it at the
right time and hopefully what I do on the pitch will set the tone aswell.
“At Windsor I don’t think any player’s position is set in stone. I know I’ve got to earn my place in the first team and if I don’t play well, I can be replaced.
“But I’m happy with how I’ve played for Windsor over the last couple of years and I’m confident I’ve still got my best rugby to deliver.”

ously played for Henley, and also Marlow as a junior player. Since arriving at Home Park, he has gone on to become an integral member of Jack Pattinson’s XV.
“Last year would’ve been my fourth at the club and I’ve loved every single minute of it,” said Emmett.
“I’ve played at a few clubs, which I get a bit of stick for from some of the boys, but at Windsor I’ve without a doubt played some of my most enjoyable
rugby.
“It’s a great club with a great bunch of lads and a real positive environment. Some of my closest friends now are people who play for Windsor.
“The club is ambitious and determined in what we want to achieve but there is also a really good friendship and social side off the pitch.
“The years I have been at Windsor have been so enjoyable and I can’t wait for many more to come.”
