Coaches and Magpies Juniors back in action after restrictions are eased

Maidenhead United’s community football coaches were looking forward to getting back to action this week ahead of a busy Easter holiday programme after restrictions were relaxed on Monday enabling the return of organised outdoor participation and matches.

Magpies CEO Jon Adams said everyone in the country was looking forward to getting outside more in the coming weeks and added that the club’s junior and community coaches were no different.

“The juniors are starting training from today (Monday), which is fantastic,” he said. “I’m sure the kids involved in that have been looking forward to it. But likewise, our community programme is beginning to ramp up again and already we can see our Easter Holiday camps are going to be very well attended.

“There’s no doubt that parents and children have been looking forward to the chance to get out and enjoy the slightly warmer weather and having that chance to be active again.” Adams said it was the first step and he hopes the country continues on this pathway towards a total easing of restrictions later this year.

“We hope that we don’t have to go back to lockdowns again,” he added. “And we’re also looking forward to welcoming fans back at some point in time as they’ve been a massive miss for us this season there’s no doubt.”

W The Thames Valley Premier League was also set to resume its league programme this week, with the season now extended to June 30. Two matches are scheduled for Saturday (April 3) with leaders Finchampstead hosting second placed Wraysbury Village and Braybrooke at home to Burghfield Reserves, both 2pm KOs.
