Both teams will be sensing an opportunity when Maidenhead return to league action against Tunbridge Wells at Braywick Park on Saturday.

After four straight defeats, Maids will be hopeful of chalking up a first victory of the season against a team that's won only one of its first four matches, however, head coach David Mobbs-Smith knows the Tunbridge coach will be thinking exactly the same about a Maids team who've hardly set the world alight since their move into the London & South East Premier Division.

They've hit the ground with a stumble after switching from the South West Premier Division, however, the head coach saw signs that they may just be finding their feet in Saturday's 27-18 loss at Tring.

“We're at home and we're hopeful we can take advantage of that and turn one of these performances into a win,” he said. “Aside from Dorking, when you could argue our performance wasn’t there, we've performed well but haven't got the results.

“Certainly, against North Walsham and Tring the performances have been good, and we've had opportunities to win the game but haven't taken them. We’ve been in the games and had some long periods of dominance when we scored, so, we’ve got to take something from that. A couple of the younger players, and newer players are still bedding in and that will take a bit of time.

Tom Francis playing at centre, are in key positions, and it's an axis that will slowly build into a partnership that works really well.”

Tunbridge narrowly lost out 24-36 to Brighton in their last match, but Mobbs-Smith knows they'll be coming to Braywick with 'high hopes' thinking they can win.

He said: “In our league we all have access to all of our videos.

“We all put them up on a platform, so coaches are able to look at other team’s games.

“They’ll be looking to pick weaknesses out of our game and thinking they can come and win, and I'll be doing the same with them. They will be arriving thinking it’s a good opportunity to come and pick up points.”
