-

A strong team from the Maidenhead Marlins Swimming Club acquitted themselves superbly in their first competition of the season at Millfield School this week and are looking forward to testing themselves against the best young swimmers in the country at the National Short Course Championships in Sheffield in December.

Competing against the best clubs in the South of England the swimmers showed great skill and character to post a series of impressive results.

Reflecting on their achievements and their hopes for the short course championships in December, head coach Paul Lloyd said: “It is great to see the swimmers returning to form so early in the season.

“They have shown incredible resilience and strength of character in the way in which they have approached the return to training after the COVID interruptions. “It is pleasing to see them getting the results of this hard work so early in the season. This sets them up for a fantastic national meet in December.”

Meanwhile the younger members of the club are embracing the opportunity to train and race in the new Braywick Leisure Centre.

Coach Alex Vine added: “It’s great for them to be back in the pool and see them embracing competition again after working so hard to prepare for it. It’s especially pleasing to see so many smiley faces on the children clearly enjoying the opportunity to compete once again.”
