Blaze a trail for a packed Easter

All areas: Events include egg hunts and walks of witness

A series of events will take place across the area for the long Easter weekend. Fun family activities will be on offer, along with religious events to share the Easter message. Here are some of the events which are taking place.

CLIVEDEN: A nature-inspired trail awaits Easter holiday adventurer­s at Cliveden until April 24.

There’s fun for all the family and beautiful National Trust surroundin­gs to explore.

Enjoy peering in vegetable patches and building bird nests as part of the 10-point activity trail, open between 10am and 3pm daily. But get in early as it’s only while stock lasts.

For £3 trailblaze­rs receive a map, pencil and Rainforest Alliance chocolate egg. Collect from the event tent outside the informatio­n centre in the Walled Garden Car Park.

COOKHAM: A Walk of Witness will be taking place in Cookham this Good Friday.

Starting at 11.30am, the walk will commence from St John the Baptist in Church Road, Cookham Dean and will end at Holy Trinity in Cookham.

Walkers will proceed via the Catholic and Methodist churches.

Nine Stations of the Cross on the route of the walk are painted by artists in the area, with a prayer and reflection at each of the stations.

DINTON PASTURES: An

Easter Hop Trail has been organised at Dinton Pastures Country Park by the charity First Days.

Until April 22, people can have an ‘eggsellent’ time following a 2km trail around the park solving word scrambles and other clues.

Trail maps cost a minimum donation of £3 and are available from the Dinton Adventure Golf. A chocolate treat awaits each Easter Hop finisher.

HURST: A series of Easter-inspired decoration­s have been displayed at key village locations by the St Nicholas CE Primary School’s PTA for all to explore and enjoy.

All intrepid wanderers have to do is purchase a map, follow the trail and mark things off once seen.

Maps are available from the Hurst Village Shop for a small donation.

People will also receive a wooden egg to decorate. Proceeds to the St Nicholas Primary School Hurst PTA.

MAIDENHEAD: Those looking for family fun this Easter are encouraged to hop on over to Grenfell Park on Saturday for an Easter Family Fun Day.

The event, organised by Maidenhead Bridge Rotary Club, is coming back after a two-year enforced break due to lockdowns.

It runs from 11am to 3pm and is aimed at young families, with children aged 0-12 free to attend.

During the event the club will be holding an Easter egg hunt, face painting, bunny mask-making and many other children’s activities.

Throughout the day there will also be children’s activities such as singing and dancing, fairground rides, a bouncy castle, ice cream and ‘plenty of chocolate’.

Visitors to the event will also be able to enjoy refreshmen­ts onsite and those who seek him may be able to find the Easter Bunny hiding in the park.

MAIDENHEAD: Churches in Maidenhead are set to gather together for a Walk of Witness this Good Friday.

The Walk of Witness by Churches Together in Maidenhead will embark from Providence Place at 11am.

Churches in the town will then proceed along the High Street and finish outside the High Street Methodist Church.

There will be prayers and Bible readings at four stations on the route.

Seven well-known hymns will also be sung during the walk, which will be accompanie­d by the Salvation Amy Band.

MAIDENHEAD: St Mark’s Crescent Methodist Church in Allenby Road will be holding an Easter Bazaar this Saturday from 10am12.30pm.

Craft items, home-baked cakes, stationary and books will be among the items on sale, along with a raffle and associated prizes.

SONNING: A free afternoon of Saturday fun is being offered at St Andrew’s Church in Sonning.

From 2pm, a variety of activities will be laid on by Reverend Jamie Taylor and his team, who look forward to welcoming the parish to the church’s Ark Garden.

There will be an Easter egg hunt, a bouncy castle, messy church plus egg and spoon races. A barbecue will follow.
