Elizaveta Tyun (violin) and Anastasia Matkovskaia (piano) Norden Farm

Maidenhead Music presents a concert from Elizaveta Tyun (violin) and Anastasia Matskovskaia (piano) at 7.30pm on April 28 at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts

Both coming from mixed Ukrainian and Russian backgrounds, these talented young women will play music reflecting this with a sonata by the Russian composer Medtner, one by the Ukrainian-born, Kapustin and also one of Brahms’ beautiful sonatas for violin and piano.

At this critical time of the war in Ukraine, we can remember that many innocents are caught up in the situation and that the history of Russia and Ukraine is intertwined. With so many links there is still harmony and friendship regardless, and we anticipate that the concert will highlight this perfectly.

Elizaveta has performed as a concert soloist on many world stages – from the Marble Palace of St Petersburg aged eight, to playing for our royal family. In 2012 she came to the UK as a pupil at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester, and then studied at the Royal College of Music, graduating with first class honours degree. She now combines playing with many orchestras such as the LSO and the BBC Symphony orchestra and a busy solo career.

Their programme features the jazz-tinged violin sonata by Ukrainian–born Kapustin, Brahms’ first violin sonata, and the violin sonata by the Russian composer Medtner.

Anastasia Matskovskaia graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in 2021, also gaining a first class degree. She is now building her solo career, but also very much enjoys playing chamber music.
