Blasted heath in gorgeous garden

-

Tuesday to Saturday, June 14 to 18 Macbeth Stubbings House

The Garden Players are planning an exciting new production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth.

Following completely sold out performances of The Merry Wives of Windsor last summer, the group returns with five performances of the stirring tragedy, one of Shakespeare’s most popular plays.

The great tragedy tells of ambition and guilt amidst a background of regicide, violence and the supernatural.

When a trio of witches tells returning hero warrior Macbeth that he is fated to become King of Scotland, he attempts to forge his own destiny. Aided and encouraged by his wife, he embarks on a reign of terror.

This year’s production will be directed by Louise Tait in her second production with the company following her memorable A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 2012.

Lou has gathered around her a particularly strong cast of wellknown local actors from around the Thames Valley, many of whom are stalwarts of The Garden Players, as well as some exciting newcomers.

The players are delighted to be returning to perform once again on the superb lawns of Stubbings House near Maidenhead, a truly stunning venue which will be open for picnics from 5.30pm. |

Audiences will be in the covered stand with raised seating for extra comfort and visibility.

Since the inaugural 2009 production of Much Ado About Nothing, The Garden Players have raised in excess of £127,000 for various charities.

Their aims are to stage high quality productions while maximising charitable donations and raising public awareness of the charities being supported.

The Garden Players are fortunate to be supported by Grundon and Stuart & Trish Fletcher as the main sponsors and send their thanks.
