Air rifle shots fired into school yard
Maidenhead: No pupils were in danger at Claires Court Senior Boys school
Armed police were called out after someone shot into the Claires Court Senior Boys school grounds with an air rifle on the evening of Wednesday, March 8.
Police say males in a property opposite the school in Ray Mill Road East fired the shots.
A 19-year-old man from Maidenhead was arrested and given a caution for ‘firing an air weapon beyond premises.’
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: “An air rifle or similar had been fired multiple times into the school grounds towards teachers from an address in Woodhurst Road.
No one was hurt.
“A member of staff attended the address but the occupants denied the offence.
“Officers, including an armed deployment, attended and cleared the area around the address but it was unoccupied.
“Around an hour later, officers stopped a vehicle near the address and arrested three 19-year-old men, two from Maidenhead and one from Slough, on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
“Officers also searched a house and seized a firearm.
“One of the men from Maidenhead was given a caution and the other two men were released with no further action.”
Claires Court has reassured the public – saying these shots were accidents, not aimed at anyone and there were no students on the site who might have been endangered.

Boys, said: “After initial concerns it transpired that the incident was an accidental event which we were informed about by the police on Thursday morning.
“At no point were teachers or the school grounds intentionally targeted and there were no Claires Court students on site.
“Our main priority is the safety of students while they are in our care and after liaising with the police, are satisfied with the action taken by them and the warning given to the individual concerned.”
