Leisure Focus has planned a range of activities for the community over the spring and summer to encourage people to lead healthier lives.

The company is responsible for operating the council’s leisure centres in the Royal Borough and runs an active communities programme which provides sporting opportunities for people of all ages.

Earlier this month, Leisure Focus partnered with the Maidenhead United FC Community Trust to offer a week’s worth of free sporting sessions to women and girls.

This culminated in a #Let GirlsPlay Football Festival hosted at Braywick Leisure Centre on Friday, March 8 which saw almost 100 primary school pupils given the chance to learn new skills in a welcoming environment.

Jatinder Singh Rakhra, sports inclusion and partnership manager at Leisure

Focus, said: “7 Days of Focus was not just about sports, it was a celebration of inclusion, empowerment and community.

“We believed in providing a platform for every woman and girl to discover the joy of being active and to find a sense of belonging within the vibrant sports community in Windsor and Maidenhead.

“The success of the ‘7 Days of Focus Women & Girls Activities Week’ stands as a testament to the commitment to celebrating health, wellness, and empowerment for women and girls in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.”

Leisure Focus is running an Easter half-term programme from Saturday, March 30 to Sunday, April 14 where parents can book their children in for a selection of sporting activities.

Events will be taking place at Braywick Leisure Centre, Windsor Leisure Centre and Cox Green Leisure Centre.

All activities are bookable via the Leisure Focus app or by visiting www.leisurefocus.org.uk

Leisure Focus has also revealed that its major water safety campaign in 2023 saw more than 2,000 primary school pupils receive vital information about water safety.

The campaign, backed by the Advertiser and its publisher Baylis Community Media CIC, aimed to spread key messages about how to stay safe in the water following a number of water-related deaths in the borough in recent years.

Working alongside organisations

including the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service and Leisure Focus held water safety assemblies across the borough and hosted 60 free swimming sessions throughout the summer.

Jatinder added: “The Safe Summer Swimming Campaign showcased Leisure Focus and

partners' commitment to community safety through education and accessible swimming facilities.”

W Leisure Focus has announced a new strategic partnership with Honda &

Hyundai Johnsons Slough to expand the reach of its Active Communities Programme.
