Sculptures on display for festival

Art, nature and creativity will be celebrated at this year’s

Cookham Festival Sculpture Garden.

The biennial festival returns from Friday, May 3 with a host of performanc­es, workshops and exhibition­s on offer for visitors to enjoy until Sunday, May 19.

Celebritie­s from the area, including Lorraine Kelly and Ross Kemp, will also be sharing their life stories during the festival.

Launching on Saturday, May 4, the Sculpture Garden will showcase the work of more than 30 sculptors, all set out among the herbaceous borders, topiary and arboretum at the Odney Club.

Visitors will see a range of contempora­ry and traditiona­l sculptures by both well-known and upand-coming artists, made using materials including stone, wood, metal, ceramics, resin and glass.

Some of the sculptors include Alison Bell, Bruce Garside, Ian Godfrey, Cathy Green, Veda Hallowes, Mike Clancy, Victoria Hunt, Melissa Swan, Clare Bigger and Stuart Stockwell.

Open from 10am to 5pm from Saturday, May 4 for the entire duration of the festival, the garden will include small and portable creations as well as larger works.

Most of the works being displayed will be available to buy.

As well as the sculptures, an exhibition of prints and paintings by profession­al artists will also be open.

Artists displaying their works include Maria Meerstadt, Karen Carter, Sarah Pye, Kate Findlay, Liz Chaderton, and Liz Baldin. Entry to the garden will cost £4. The garden is sponsored by Flowerland Home and Garden and Beaconsfie­ld Heights Care Home, which is part of the Avery Collection.
