CITY RATED

- BY STUART BRENNAN

CABALLERO

Poor kick which led to first Monaco goal, but his penalty save and stop with his feet could yet prove crucial.

SAGNA

Brought in to handle Mbappe’s pace, but he found himself being dragged into the centre by the swift Monaco attacks.

STONES

Horribly exposed by Falcao to make it 3-2 and he had his hands full all night - but his goal was a huge pick-me-up.

OTAMENDI

Not quick enough to deal with the breaking Monaco attackers. Still managed a couple of important tackles.

FERNANDINHO

Asked to do a job that is outside his remit, and it showed at times. No surprise he was replaced by a full-back.

TOURE

Might have been swallowed up by the sheer pace the game, but he orchestrated much of City’s best work.

STERLING

Monaco could not handle his pace. He was in the right place to open the scoring and set up Aguero for the second.

DE BRUYNE

Quite excellent at times, very ordinary at others. He still does not look entirely happy in a deeper role.

SILVA

Genius. The flipped pass that freed Aguero to set up the fifth goal was one of the moments of the match.

SANE

Couldn’t miss his goal, but what came before it was quite superb. Utterly tormented the opposition.

AGUERO

Scored twice, set up another and should have had a penalty. No-one could have asked more from him, although Pep will.
