Roughyeds coach Scott still positive ahead of Hull KR clash
OLDHAM will have to do it the hard way when they take on unbeaten Hull KR tomorrow afternoon, with dualregistration partners Huddersfield making no players available to Scott Naylor this weekend.
Giants youngsters Tyler Dickinson and Sam Wood featured for Roughyeds in the narrow defeat to London Broncos last week, but have stayed with Rick Stone’s firstteam as the Super League side contend with a series of injuries.
Naylor has his own issues to deal with as Phil Joy is sidelined with a dislocated shoulder and George Tyson still suspended, but is looking for his team to produce a repeat of last year’s shock Challenge Cup victory over the Robins.
“When we play well and do the right things we’ve shown already this season that we can live with the division’s top teams for the full 80 minutes,” said the Roughyeds boss.
The league’s other unbeaten side, Featherstone Rovers, will be the visitors at Heywood Road to take on SWINTON LIONS.
Ahead of difficult away trips to Batley and Toulouse, John Duffy’s side will be hoping to inflict a first loss on Rovers, having pushed Bradford Bulls all the way last time out.
Elsewhere, ROCHDALE will be looking to bounce back from last week’s defeat to KR when they take on Halifax.
Early wins over Dewsbury and Bradford led to suggestions the newlypromoted Hornets could find themselves in the Middle 8 Qualifiers later in the year, but Halifax will pose a tough test of their credentials.
