Jesus hopes ultra-sound device can cut recovery
GABRIEL Jesus has been using a special bone-healing device that could cut more than a month off his recovery from his broken metatarsal.
The City striker was pictured carrying the Exogen ultra-sound machine as he made his way on crutches to the chauffeur-driven car taking him to the Blues’ training ground yesterday.
And the manufacturers of the device say clinical trials have shown that it can knock up to 38 per cent off healing times for bone fractures.
One source at the firm that makes Exogen said that given the fact that Jesus is also under daily medical supervision at City, the results should be “optimal”.
Jesus picked up the injury in City’s 2-0 win at Bournemouth, just over a fortnight ago.
City have been vague on the nature and extent of the injury, but it is understood that he is expected to be out for up to three months from the time of the injury, which would rule him out for the season.
But Jesus has clearly been taking the device home to his Salford apartment in a bid to speed up that process.
The Exogen machine fires pulses of ultrasound at the fracture, creating motions at a cellular level to stimulate the normal biology of bone healing.
Manager Pep Guardiola was questioned about Jesus’ injury at his press conference this week, and would not rule out a return before the end of the season.
