Naylor: Strugglers are dangerous

- RUGBY LEAGUE By TOM BRAMWELL

OLDHAM coach Scott Naylor is looking for his side to bounce back in style when they welcome Dewsbury Rams to Bower Fold tomorrow.

The visitors are the only Championship side yet to win in 2017 and Roughyeds come into the game stinging from last week’s heavy defeat to Hull KR.

“We need a big response,” said Naylor. “I’m sure the 17 players in Oldham jerseys on Sunday will be determined to show they are better than they were last week.”

The Rams have been unable to call on a number of key players so far this season, but Naylor expects them to be reinforced by the time they arrive.

“They’ve got injuries, but they’ll come with dual-reg lads, loan players and experience all over the field. They’ll be desperate to get their first win and a desperate team is a dangerous team.”

Elsewhere, SWINTON travel to Batley as the Lions’ tough start to the season continues. John Duffy’s side have so far faced London, Bradford and Featherstone at home, with their only win coming away to Dewsbury.

ROCHDALE HORNETS lie in fifth place in the table, but have lost their last two matches, both at home.

Coach Alan Kilshaw will be without Miles Greenwood through injury, but is not unduly concerned. “We were planning on rotating the side anyway for the trip to Featherstone because there are a couple of players on the fringes who deserve a run out,” he said.
