Trio set to make Wigan debuts

- RUGBY LEAGUE By TOM BRAMWELL

SHAUN Wane could be set to hand BetFred Super League debuts to Romain Navarette, Liam Forsyth and Tom Davies in Wigan’s 2016 Grand Final re-match against Warrington Wolves tomorrow.

French prop Navarette joined the club alongside countryman Morgan Escare from Catalans Dragons in the close season and has been brought into the squad to take the place of Ryan Sutton, who suffered an eye injury in last week’s win over Leigh Centurions.

In the same match, wingers Joe Burgess and Lewis Tierney also picked up injuries and the trio are each expected to be missing for four to six weeks.

Academy product Forsyth re-joined the Warriors in October, having spent 12 months in rugby union with Bath.

The 21-year-old has featured this season on dual-registration at Swinton Lions in the Kingstone Press Championship, scoring three tries in three appearances. Though predominantly a winger, he lined up for John Duffy’s side at centre, playing inside Davies and this pairing could be repeated by Wane tomorrow evening.

Davies, 19, was part of the Wigan under-19s side that lost last season’s Academy Grand Final to St Helens in golden point extra time.

The Warriors named winger Burgess at centre against Leigh on Friday because of an injury to Oliver Gildart, but he limped from the field midway through the first half.

When Tierney did not emerge for the second period, it left Anthony Gelling and debutant Liam Marshall on the wings.

It is expected that Marshall will keep his place for the trip to bottom-of-the-table Warrington.
