TEENAGE GIRLS IN ‘TEDDY BEAR’ ECSTASY HORROR
PILLS CAUSE 13-YEAR-OLDS TO COLLAPSE – AND ONE EVEN FALLS UNCONSCIOUS
A TEENAGER has been arrested after four 13-year-old girls were rushed to hospital after taking ‘teddy bear’ ecstasy pills.
The girls are understood to have taken the pink-coloured pills close to Wythenshawe Civic Centre on Sunday night, according to police.
All four girls collapsed and one fell unconscious.
They were taken to hospital and have since been discharged.
As part of the investigation police raided a house in Wythenshawe on Monday. An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drugs offences yesterday. Greater Manchester Police are warning to children and parents about the dangers of taking ecstasy. Det Sgt John Seaton, from GMP’s City of Manchester team, said: “Our investigation has progressed and we have now arrested a man on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs. “He remains in custody for questioning and enquiries will continue. “I would still urge anyone who is offered drugs, especially tablets that are pink and purple with teddy markings on, to please not take them and contact police. If anyone has any information or concerns about drugs in the area, then please also get in touch.” It is understood the girls took the tablets while they were together, but then fell ill separately some time later. It comes after a group of students at St James Catholic High School, in Cheadle Hulme, turned up to school high after apparently taking ‘teddy bear’ ecstasy. The tablets, which are in the shape of a cuddly toy, have also been linked with the death of a young clubber in Manchester in December. Anyone with information about this incident can call police on 101, quoting incident number 2161 of 5 March 2017 – or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
