Dancefloor thrillers take Steps to roll back years

-

CHART-TOPPING popstars Steps met excited fans at MediaCityUK after announcing they are releasing new music and heading back on tour.

And the reunited fivesome – who are celebrating 20 years since they burst onto the pop scene – appeared to have rolled back the years as they stepped out in trademark coordinating outfits.

Nineties and noughties stars Claire Richards, Lisa Scott-Lee, Faye Tozer, Ian ‘H’ Watkins and Lee Latchford-Evans, who were known for their matching outfits back in their heyday, rocked a neutral colour palette of creams, browns, blush pink and grey, with an added splash of gold.

They posed for photos with fans and signed autographs after leaving the BBC Breakfast studios at Salford Quays and ‘H’ tweeted: “Thanks for having us @BBCBreakfast!!! #20YearsOfSteps @BBCOne”

Raven-haired Lisa was looking super-glam in a belted white shirt dress teamed with a pair of sunnies.

Faye wore a pink cutaway-shoulder top with on-trend cream culottes and open-toe pink boots, and Claire was rocking the sports luxe trend in a metallic jacket with striped trousers and an eye-catching pair of gold shoes with a star pattern.

And not to be outdone by the ladies, ‘H’ wore a fetching patterned jacket and bandmate Lee donned a pair of two-tone jeans with a fashionable sandy-hued bomber jacket.

The Tragedy and One For Sorrow hitmakers will head to the Manchester Arena on Saturday, December 2, after a string of UK arena dates including Birmingham, Liverpool, Leeds, London and Cardiff.

The arena will be the last night of the whole tour for Steps, who have dance act The Vengaboys as the support act.

The discotastic five-piece will release their first new album since 2000, Tears On The Dancefloor on Friday, April 21 – and new single Scared of the Dark is out on Friday.

Steps split in 2001 but made a triumphant return to the pop scene in 2012 and have worked together on and off on band projects ever since.

But this will be the first major tour since The Ultimate Tour in 2012 and follow up Christmas tour of 2013. Tickets for the tour go on general sale today.
