Yaya vows to be a Wembley winner

YAYA Toure is determined to create more magic moments at Wembley in a City shirt.

The talismanic midfielder has given Blues plenty to celebrate at the national stadium.

From the semi-final goal to down United and the winner in the 2011 FA Cup final to that stonking effort in 2014 to curb a league cup upset against Sunderland, the 33-year-old has been instrumental in recent silverware successes.

Unsurprisingly, the stadium has left its mark on Toure and the midfielder is not prepared to let Middlesbrough get in the way of booking another trip.

“We’ve got two games now where we need all the players,” he said.

“We have to try to do the business, Middlesbrough is going to be a tough, tough game. They’ve had a rest for a week. We’ll try to do our best and of course one trophy would be very welcome for us.

“It’s about winning on Saturday and then after that we have to play the semi-final.

“It’s an unbelievable stadium, I love going there, and I hope we’re going to do the business.”

City squeezed in their fixture with Stoke as they look to avoid a logjam at the end of the season but looked tired in a less-than-thrilling 0-0 draw.

Pep Guardiola’s decision to rest Raheem Sterling and David Silva appeared to suck the creativity out of the team, even if it refreshed both players.

Toure accepts that rotation will be crucial as the squad goes for glory in three competitions in the coming months. However, he does not want that used as an excuse for if the team come up short. In the week that Barcelona produced the greatest comeback in Champions League history, the Ivorian wants his team-mates to display the mentality shown by the La Liga giants to ensure they stay in the running in all competitions for as long as possible. “It’s very important but I think everyone in the team is involved now. “It’s not about fatigue, it’s about mentality. “Teams like Real Madrid or Barcelona always play a lot of games, because they’re involved in all the trophies. “The Stoke game wasn’t about fatigue because when you see in the last 10 minutes we were running more, trying our best. “You’ve got to be ready – that’s our job. “If you’re the manager then if you’ve got to put the same team out on Saturday then we have to do our job for the fans and the club.”
