DIARYDIANNE Corrie’s Rosie tracking down long lost aunt

-

ROSIE Webster manages to track down a character not seen in Weatherfield for almost 30 years on Coronation Street. Ditzy Rosie, played by Helen Flanagan, appears to be reunited with her mum Sally’s younger sister Gina in upcoming scenes filmed in Eccles.

But this time the character is played by a different actress - The Bill’s Connie Hyde, from Macclesfield.

And it isn’t just Auntie Gina who Rosie meets, she also meets up with a woman believed to be her cousin, played by Molly McGlynn.

Cafe worker Gina was previously played by Julie Foy, from Bolton, who starred in the hit 80s BBC children’s series Jossy’s Giants.

Bury actress Helen and her co-stars looked like they were having fun filming, with Molly stopping to bask in the sunshine on the Metcalfe and Son window cleaning van driven by character Rosie, who recently started working for her stepdad Tim.

And Helen looked like she was giving her co-star a high-five while strutting around on location in an eye-catching hot pink jumper with skintight jeans and over-the-knee boots, which she stopped to adjust.

Sally’s wild child sister Gina was previously in the ITV1 soap until 1989, a year before Rosie was born.

She left the famous street when she married a long-distance lorry driver and they moved to Newcastle.

In 2001, mother of two Gina was hospitalised with appendicitis and Sally went to look after her two children. Then, in 2010, Sally went to stay with Gina to convalesce after receiving treatment for breast cancer.

We look forward to finding out why model Rosie, who caused mayhem after returning to Weatherfield from Miami when she realised she had been used as a drugs mule, has tracked her relatives down and how snobby councillor Sally will react.

Last month, chatterbox Rosie came back after five years and fans have said they can’t stop laughing at her hilarious antics. One fan, Smithy, tweeted: “So glad having Rosie back already @ itvcorrie @helenflanagan1 can’t stop laughing.” ITV bosses were so impressed they announced that Helen, originally contracted for three months, will be staying more permanently as Rosie with her contract extended until December. Corrie producer Kate Oates said previously: “We are thrilled to have Helen back and delighted that she is now going to become a more permanent fixture in Weatherfield. “Rosie is a classic Coronation Street comedy character and we are looking forward to seeing more of her antics in the future.” And Helen said: “I am having so much fun being back here playing Rosie again.” Helen Flanagan, who plays Rosie Webster
