Zlat’s happy, but could still leave

- By JAMES ROBSON

ZLATAN Ibrahimovic has raised hopes he will sign a new contract at United by declaring himself happy at Old Trafford.

But the veteran Swede has refused to rule out a shock move to Napoli.

Jose Mourinho is desperate to tie the striker down to another 12-month deal - but is yet to receive assurances from his leading scorer.

Ibrahimovic has big-money offers from China and MLS and has so far refused to commit to an extension at United.

In an interview with former England manager Fabio Capello, he addressed his contract situation.

Asked if he would be open to a move to Napoli, he said: “You never know, but I’m happy here. Let’s just wait and see what happens.”

In the interview, to be aired on Italy’s Fox Sports tonight, Ibrahimovic speaks fondly of his time in Italy, where he played for both Milan clubs and Juventus.

“My family was very happy in Milan,” he added.

“I didn’t want to leave Milan. When you’re happy, you’re just happy.

“I just wanted to be playing and I still had in my mind what had happened at Barcelona, where I hadn’t been comfortable.”

Mourinho has suggested United fans may have to camp outside Ibrahimovic’s house to convince him to stay at Old Trafford.

The 35-year-old has been a revelation in his first season in English football, scoring 26 goals in 40 appearances.
