Magnificen­t Macc book their ticket to Wembley

MACCLESFIE­LD TOWN are on their way to Wembley after defeating Tranmere Rovers in the FA Trophy semi-final.

The Silkmen won 1-0 at Prenton Park on Saturday thanks to a goal from Ollie Norburn on 68 minutes, to give Macc a 2-1 aggregate victory.

They will now face York City in the final on May 21.

In the National League North, SALFORD CITY and STOCKPORT COUNTY had to share bragging rights after a 1-1 draw at Moor Lane.

The Hatters led when Danny Lloyd scored early on, but Richie Allen rescued a point for Salford from the penalty spot on 80 minutes.

Salford stay in second place, while Stockport are sixth.

CURZON ASHTON came from behind to pick up a 2-1 win at home against Nuneaton Town.

Nuneaton went ahead after two minutes when Ashley Chambers scored, but second-half goals from Matt Warburton and Joe Guest saw Curzon come out on top.

Curzon are now in 12th after the win, one place above FC UNITED OF MANCHESTER, who were beaten 2-1 at Alfreton Town. Sam Smith opened the scoring for Alfreton before George Thomson levelled, but Wes Atkinson got the home side’s winner.

STRUGGLERS Altrincham and STALYBRIDG­E CELTIC played out a 0-0 draw, with Altrincham staying bottom and Stalybridg­e one place above them.
