Bikers join convoy to help rider in coma after crash

- By SAM YARWOOD

THE family of a young woman critically injured in a crash are hoping the sound of dozens of motorcyclists riding to the hospital where she’s being treated will help push her to recovery.

Patricja Horodeczna, 20, who is known as Pati, has been in a coma at Salford Royal Hospital since March 12 when she came off her bike at a junction in Urmston.

Her parents Meg and Greg say their daughter has a passion for motorbikes, and believe that she may respond to a convoy from the biking community, having joined similar events herself in the past.

A post calling on people to join the ride was shared on Facebook thousands of times.

It reads: “As her love is motorbikes we think she may respond to a convoy from the biker family to the hospital on Sunday evening at 7.30pm.

“We can then record this and play it to her by her bedside in the hope it may push her to recovery.

“We would really appreciate you all spreading the message and letting us know about turnout and if people will do this for her. I know she has attended many similar things when friends have died or requested a turnout.”

Supporters were asked to meet at Krispy Kreme on Traders Avenue, Barton Dock Road in Urmston, last night, for the ride to the hospital.

Pati, who used to attend St Anthony’s Catholic College and Loreto College, has been described by her sister Karolina as an ‘amazing and warm person inside and out’ who ‘can make anyone smile with the littlest things.’ She said Pati is a talented artist who enjoys taking pictures and listening to music, and absolutely adores her rescue dog Bella.

A fundraising page has also been set up by friends to support Pati during her recovery. To donate visit www.gofundme.com/patis-fund
