Guardiola should hunt for Hector say Blues supporters

- By JAMES ROBSON james.robson@men-news.co.uk

CITY fans have told Pep Guardiola to make Hector Bellerin his No.1 target this summer.

The Blues manager is set to spend up to £200m in the next transfer window - and overhauling his defence is his priority.

He moved for Arsenal fullback Bellerin when first taking over at the Etihad - only for Arsene Wenger to issue a firm ‘not for sale.’

Bellerin has gone on to sign a new deal at the Emirates but with uncertainty over Wenger’s future, City will be monitoring the Spaniard’s situation.

Barcelona are also tracking him - but it is believed a reunion with Guardiola, who he worked with at the Nou Camp, is his preference if he moves.

M.E.N. Sport outlined some of Guardiola’s top targets last week and asked City fans to vote for the player they would most like to see at the Etihad next season.

And it was notable that defenders came out on top.

Bellerin received 23 per cent of the votes, ahead of secondplaced Leonardo Bonnuci with 14pc.

In third place was Tottenham’s England left-back Danny Rose, who Guardiola could have to spend as much as £40m on to prise him away from White Hart Lane.

Given the way City’s defence capitulated against Monaco last week, it should come as little surprise that fans want to improve the rearguard.

There was also a lot of love for Jack Wilshere and Isco each receiving 10pc of the votes.
